I would like to break down for you why I think that the law of attraction is misconceived. I feel that the law of attraction is viewed as some alternative to belief in Christ and draws people away from what the bible teaches
Some view it as some voodoo that will pull you away from God. I think of it more like a law. I view it like gravity. When you hold out a ball and let it go, it will drop to the ground. Some consider it the point of view where like attracts like. L
I think we need to be aware that faith is a powerful thing. I think we need also to be aware that our minds are powerful tools. Whatever we think upon, whatever we dwell on. Creates an idea. Those ideas create action. If we dwell on sin. Matthew 5:27-28 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” the point here is that the man was thinking about sin. And when someone dwells on it. That person will create that for themselves.
Jesus constantly says to put your eyes on him, When Jesus and Peter were out on the boat and Jesus was walking on water. Peter asked if he could go out on the water with him. Jesus said sure and while he was looking at him Peter also walked on the water. But as soon as his focus was changed he began to sink asking Jesus to save him.
Here I have laid out bible verses that coincide with what is taught in the law of attraction. Although you may hear many talking about seeking source or universe, or whatever God you believe in. I choose to believe in Jesus and remain a christian.
Mark 11:24 -Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it,and it will be yours.
- This is a direct cause of faith into action. Ask God. Believe you’ve received it and it’s yours. This relates to anything you might ask for. I think a lot of flack is given when people are viewed to only want riches or extravagant things. When others want better relationships or a better mental state for themselves. I believe gratitude plays a big role in how we perceive things.
Psalm 16:7-8 – “I will bless the Lord who counsels me; he gives me wisdom in the night. He tells me what to do. I am always thinking of the Lord; and because he is so near, I never need to stumble or fall.”
- Meditation is the best way for me to be able to take time out of my day and focus on God. In meditation I often find myself inspired with ideas to put into action. I visualize myself hanging out with God and giving him all my worries for the day.
John 10:10 – “I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”
- I think God doesn’t want to withhold himself from his people. He wants to openly bless us abundantly. I believe though that we need to remove the curse we place over our lives and tithe. Malachi 3:10 talks about this in order that we might open the heavens upon our lives.
Philippians 4:8 – “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.”
- Thinking positive will change your outlook on life. It’s pretty simple to grasp really. If you dwell on thoughts your going to have them in your head. Then you’ll act on those thoughts and create the reality before you. We manifest what we think about. I think it’s truly important what we consume and let ourselves look at as it can change our perspective on things.
We need to choose carefully those things we think about. We need to discover what it is that we want in life and how we will make that happen. Spending time with God and choosing what we think about will alter our course in life.
