Part 2 of 2
Getting Traffic To Your Blog That Sticks
A big thing on your site is plugins, there are a few SEO plugins, and it is my understanding that they all work just as effectively as the other. Install one and follow the directions it gives to setting up your SEO.
You will also want to connect your site to google analytics, so you can begin to start tracking your visitors. this data is really important as you grow, and start to implement split testing for sales.
To do SEO properly you’ll want to know what keywords to use. to get data on the best keywords to use I like to head over to the keyword planner google provides when using Google AdWords. there are also other great videos on selecting keywords on youtube here!
before you start to implement any keywords and SEO tools I would highly suggest you write 25-30 blogs and have them posted on your site before you begin. what happens when someone comes to your site and they see you written very much is you’ll get quickly discredited and your chance at a return visitor goes down. once you get those 25-30 blogs, start banging out SEO and wait again until you have 50,000 visits a month before you begin trying to make money from it.
The reason for wanting to wait is Google wants to provide to most up to date content, content that isn’t saturated with ads that people want to read. You’ll also want to create great content, and great articles people want to come back to and read.
Another way to drive traffic to your site is by connecting with other bloggers in your desired niche.
Develop A Brand That Stands Out From The Pack
That’s right. when people see your brand they need to relate who you are with what they’re getting from you. the best way to do this is placing your face on your website. people connect with faces. they like to know who they’re talking too. I read a quote recently that said that people buy from people, not powerpoints. it makes sense.
Develop your brand, figure out what that picture is and place it on all your social media outlets. You’ll want the same picture on all of them. that picture represents you, who you are and what you offer.
a great tool for social media that I’ve started using is IFFTT(If This Then That). it allows you to post in one place and IFTTT automatically posts in all your other social media feeds. It’s great because you don’t need to manage everything, you can just focus on the one that your good at. I have my WordPress set up with IFTTT, and it automatically posts on my facebook page when I publish a new post. it’s great.
Another great way to grow your blog is teaming up with other blogs in the same arena as yours. Say you’re doing a blog about fitness. You’ll want to search for fitness blogs and ask to collaborate using google to search is a great way to do it. Also looking in facebook search to look for fitness writers wanted ads. This could mean writing an article for them which links back to your site, a few types of articles would work for this. As an example, you might write the 10 steps to jump higher, but instead of giving them all 10 steps on their site. Link to your site and give them the last few there. Then invite them to connect with you to read other blogs that they might like that relate to that.
How To Rake In All Those Profits
Once your rolling in followers, views and all the data points you want to hit. Think 50k hits a month. You’ll want to begin adding in ads, affiliate links, your own products, donation buttons and anything thing that you think will create a profit with that traffic.
Google Adsense functions in that you place space for their ads to be placed on your site and it injects ads based on the type of traffic you’re getting to your site. There are a few ways to get paid. pay per viewing of each ad, pay per click and pay per item bought thought each click.
Amazon affiliate allows you to pay per item bought and give you a percentage of each item. There are loads of affiliate programs, you might think of your favorite products and scrolling to the bottom you will usually find how you can become an affiliate.
My favorite way to gain income is to sell something. That might be an ebook or t-shirts,mugs or anything you can think of that would represent you and your brand. I laugh when I think about it. But supreme patty promotes the crap out of shrimp gang accessories on his social media platforms and I believe he does very well.
A fun way is to add a donation area where people can donate. For example. You might suggest. Click here to buy me a beer if you enjoy the blog and want to give back.
You might also add a service for sale like a coaching program or an online video series for sale. You could also monetize yourself and allow someone to pay for time with you one on one.
Those are a few ways to generate income, there are many more ways but I believe I’ve covered the basics.
The process is only as hard as you make it. The best advice I can give would be to be consistent at it and know your goals. Eventually, you’ll dive deeper into knowing what to do as you go along, so don’t worry about trying figure it all out at once. Just take action, start writing. There are lots of people who make 100k/year after their first year, but you need to build up to that.
Once you get rolling and start making some money you can source it out to people to write for you. I would test out the quality of the work that you hire until you find someone that you like and writes the style that you want your readers to read. To do that you’ll want to head over to fiverr.com and hire a writer in your niche. If you can get a writer for 5-20$/article your flying if you buy an article and you don’t like it. You can resell it to someone else who might like it. Or use it as a connection piece to network with other blogs. You can even hire these people to write ebooks for you.
Then you might hire a VA(virtual assistant) to start planning out topics for your blog. Then you can automate the whole process and focus on what matters to you.
